Cancer treatment for Multiple Sclerosis?

I have MS and have been on DMT's for a few years now. I was having a chat with my Ms nurse today regarding switching treatments and she's told me of this 'wonder treatment' that some of her other patients are on. I can't remember the proper name for it but it was along the lines of Ritux.....?

It all seems too good to be true so I was wondering if anyone else has tried it to treat their Ms, and can share their experiences.

I'm not due to see neurology for another few months and I will ask for more info when I do. My Nurse told me this treatment is normally used to treat patients with certain types of cancer like blood cancers and lymphoma. She said that her patients have seen improvements with old symptoms and a reduction with new problems.

I'd try anything to alleviate my symptoms however I'm always weary of swapping DMT's due to potential side effects. Anyone willing to share their experiences?

I think you are referring to "mitoxantrone" (googled it). You might be better joining a specialist MS site rather MN for best advice.

Do you mean rituximab? My friend tried it, she didn't notice any improvements, but lots of people she knows have had ait and it has been very good for them.

It used to be licenced for something else, but was relicensed I believe to cover use in relapsing remitting MS (not sure about progressive).

Definitely discuss the options with your care team!

Yes Rituximab is what it's called, thank you.

It's good to hear that you have heard its been successful with others.

@ByQuaintAzureWasp I am a member of multiple MS groups. Not many people have experience with this drug in them. There is a huge network of people on MN with MS and I often get good advice on here. I've already mentioned that I will discuss it further with neurology at my next appointment.
