Yes tried the inner soles, stretching, had physio, wear footwear with slight heel, Skechers trainers. Have a couple of good days then bam it comes back with a vengeance. 3rd shock wave tomorrow, have to have 5 sessions. Not noticed if it’s making a difference. Perhaps I’m being impatient now.

I was told no barefoot walking by my chiropodist
PF is inflamation of a tendon, so my chiropodist said take high strength ibuprofen for 2 weeks
Ice pack twice a day for 10 minutes.
I had it really bad one summer for months and that cleared it up.

This! Especially the Ibuprofen. My father had it for ages, a friend who is a doctor said this and a polish nurse agreed saying that's the advice in Poland. They won't suggest it here due to the potential stomach issues of taking ibuprofen everyday.

I dont think most people realise that inflammation of a tendon is the problem and you need to reduce that.
Years ago i also had RSI in my hand , my GP told me to do the same 2 weeks, high strength Ibuprofen to reduce the tendonitis.
You can buy 400mg ibuprofen in the chemist, but its over the counter. I was advised to take 800mg 3 times a day for 2 weeks both by my GP and Chiropodist.

It’s awful. I tried everything until I found that - for me - avoiding going barefoot made all the difference. I had to stop doing whatever it was that was flaring up the irritation of the plantar fascia - sometimes I couldn’t walk on it and had to crawl around the house. It was wretched.

What also helped was massaging the heel (gently!) and indoors I wear supportive Hotter slip-ons. They’re ugly but I don’t care. Gentle stretches help too, but not to the point of over-stretching the fascia.

Also, I had to stop wearing wellingtons for dog walking. Even though they had good padding and springy heel - posh supportive ones, they killed my feet. The other week I wore them again for a walk, and suffered for it for the next few days. I won’t be trying that again!

it’s all so frustrating - you have my sympathy!

Before successful shock wave I tried physio, acupuncture, every type of shoe, barefoot, frozen coke bottles, stretches, prescribed medication, you name it, I tried it.

It has now been gone for over three years.
