Had this since July and doesn’t seem to get better. Getting me down now as having major impact on day to day living. Have started shock wave therapy anyone know if it actually works .

I’ve had it years ago and it recently came back around 6 months ago.
I wear insoles in every shoe, never go bare feet ever. Last time I had it I think it took somewhere in the region of 2 years to go. Right now it feels like it’s improving slowly. Im also hoping some weight loss will help

I paid privately for a steroid injection. Went away about 2 weeks after injection and never came back (2 years now)
Some podiatrists will do injection i believe, and for cheaper than I paid.

I endured this for 18mths! Short answer is, I awoke 1 day and it had gone.

The things I tried:
-Paid for osteopathy, podiatry and massage
-Had a walking assessment and changed my footwear to account for an overpronation (ankle rolling inwards) and wore only specific trainers
-Rolled my foot over spiky balls and frozen rolling pins
-Bought a sock with a strap to wear at night which was dreadful and I tore off within an hour of wearing!
-Lost 10kg
-I saw an NHS physio and did all the exercises prescribed- stretches standing, off the back of steps, on my toes and all sorts
-I was waiting for the shock therapy for over 9mths

-I caught a gastric bug and didn't do the stretching and physio exercises for a few weeks. Strangely, it was soon after that I awoke with no pain!

That was 4yrs ago and thankfully, its never returned.

I had it for years. A combination of things helped me but the shockwave therapy was one of them, combined with wearing a boot at nighttime to keep my foot at 90 degrees (took some getting used to). I also had a steroid injection at one point before that which gave amazing relief for a few months but then wore off (and it was agony to have it done but so worth it!). I started thyroid medication about that time too for other reasons but I think it helped this issue too. Like others here I never go barefoot anymore, I always wear gel “blue spot” type heel pads in my shoes and only ever wear Sketchers or Birkenstocks.

Hoka trainers.

Consultant told me to buy them, haven't looked back since. Now own 4 pairs :)

I had shockwave it did help but it didn’t cure )and it does hurt)

mine lasted over 2 years and I wouldn’t describe it as completely gone now but a million times better.

i only wear Birkenstock soles now and occasionally fit flop.
