If blood results don't flag anything, it could be peri/menopause.

LittleGreenDragons · 09/02/2025 12:34

I don't see you mentioning ferritin at all...

Have you had your ANA done? Could be autoimmune.

flappingsoles · 09/02/2025 12:56

Have you had your calcium levels checked?

Labracadabra · 09/02/2025 13:24

Nothing dramatic here. Mean red cell width is normal; with iron deficiency anaemia you'd usually see it reduced due to a greater number of small red blood cells in circulation. There are some marginally low results but they're just below the normal range so nothing alarming, especially as mean haemoglobin content, and concentration are both within the normal range. White blood cells are all in the normal range. Maybe the other results you're waiting for will be more revealing.

Thank everyone. Definitely the right age for Peri Menopause at 45. I’ve got a Mirena coil and Oestrogen Patch both to treat migraines.
could low folate cause lots of those symptoms does anyone know? It was low in 2023 and gave me palpitations but they didn’t check it again. They have done it this time, so just waiting for the results.

I haven’t, so I’ll ask about that thanks.

I’m hoping they have tested for ferritin, FBC can’t back first, only took 24 hours. So I’m just waiting on the rest.

Not for a long time, is it something that can change? It was around 15 years ago that I was tested.

I'd say the B12 results may reveal something.

jennylamb1 · 09/02/2025 21:21

Have you had antibodies for hypothyroidism looked into?

Hollyhobbi · 09/02/2025 21:21

If calcium comes back as anyway high get them to check your parathyroid hormone levels too. Also have you had your blood pressure checked? Especially during the dizziness/almost fainting episodes?

I don’t think so. Only standard thyroid blood tests in the past. Both my Mum and my Dad’s Mum have Underactive Thyroid. I don’t know if it can be hereditary though saying that.

Thank you I’ll make a note of that. My blood pressure has only been very slightly raised around 140/90.

Peri menopausal and fibromyalgia. ?

WhatMe123 · 09/02/2025 22:48

Sounds like low b12 or iron/ferritin to me

dibdabdog · 09/02/2025 22:53

Bone profile and parathyroid hormone and vitamin D
If your adjusted calcium is elevated and your parathyroid hormone also elevated, have a look at https://www.facebook.com/groups/hyperpara.parathyroiduk/ on facebook.

Yes it can be hereditary. Though I had alot of the same symptoms but mines overactive. I think you definitely need to see thyroid results

Confusedbutnotconcernedyet · 09/02/2025 23:09

We have matching symptoms almost identical! Mines significant b12, folate and vit d deficiency

Peri menopausal and fibromyalgia. ?

I do have a Fibro diagnosis, but generally have muscle pain rather than bone and joint pain. The fatigue has also become much, much worse over the last 2 months and usually when I get a flare up it settles but this has just kept getting worse. I’m really hoping they can find something causing it that they can treat. I feel like I’m wading through treacle each day.

How many times have you had Covid? Post Covid fatigue is real and often hugely debilitating.

Sorry you’re suffering as well. My Vit D was always low so I’m permanently on a prescribed high dose now. So I’m presuming that’ll come back ok for me. Have you started to improve since finding out the cause?

Only twice confirmed but probably 3/4. Not for a long while though.
