Strong antibiotics have made vulval skin delicate

I've changed name for this.
Last year I had diverticulitis and ended up on a raft of antibiotics for months which really stripped out my system. I ended up quite thrushy for a while but the skin around my vulva and my clitoris became incredibly delicate to the point where the slightest heavy handedness causes micro-tears in the skin.
If this happens it heals within a couple of days but it's made sex so difficult that my libido seems to have tanked because it comes unpleasant (even oral sex doesn't feel nice).
I'm 6 months on from the antibiotics and it's got better (no thrush) but my skin is so delicate still that it keeps happening. It's making me dread sex.
Has this happened to anyone else? Did it resolve eventually?
What can I do to improve things?
I'm taking probiotics but this is making me feel miserable.

Are you sure it’s the antibiotics? Have you had it checked?

Yes it's definitely the antibiotics. I had three different ones, I spent a week in hospital with a raging infection because of the diverticulitis and they pumped me full of very strong antibiotics, discharged me with another set for two weeks and then I had a couple of months where they kept me on Doxycycline. I had chronic thrush because of it and it totally stripped out my system of 'good' bacteria.
I've had tests etc because of the thrush and all clear other than thrush which I no longer have.
Just this really delicate skin still which is better than it was but still get little tears which are making me miserable.

How old are you? It could be peri / meno.. I'm 48 and use topical HRT cream on that vulval area when necessary eg if it gets sore.
Also Vagifem pessaries are a very good thing for hugely reducing any vaginal dryness.

I used to use medihoney cream on any little tears in that area before i discovered the HRT cream.

Im seeing lots of adverts for naydaya oil. Maybe take a look? Apparently for dry fragile skin (specifically menopause) but might help?

You might still have thrush, I had it a few months after both dc, I imagine something to do with the hormone changes. And it did cause the skin on my vulva to go incredibly dry and tear. After many creams and pessaries (they had to prescribe the gel ones as I was so sore I couldn't insert the regular ones) the gp finally prescribed a course of three of the tablets, taken a week apart. Thar sorted it.

That's a good shout actually, I am 53 and have been in menopause for years. I used to use vagifem pessaries and could do with ordering some although there is a cream form that I can use so will order some of that. I wonder if the huge infection and subsequent antibiotics might have triggered atrophy as well as the dryness and soreness. (it's not sore as such but when I get tears it feels horrible)
Is it the antibacterial Medihoney wound gel you used?
Thanks for your replies by the way, I really appreciate it, this has really been getting me down.

Thank you I will have a look at that. I've never heard of it before

Ouch that sounds sore! Poor you!
My skin has been so dry down there and it does sound similar. I haven't noticed any more thrush but it can't harm to a canestan treatment before my oestrogen cream arrives can it?

Definitely speak to gp about oestrogen gels to deal with dryness due to menopause.

Also look into lichen sclerosis which can cause itchiness and tears. It's not that well known but appears to be pretty common. Mine was misdiagnosed as thrush for years.
