ds2 last had a proper wee on sunday.since then one tiny wee in day(dribble) and tiny one in night nappy.hes had on and off temp which comes down with calpol, seems wobbly and dizzy, keeps trying to be sick but just bit of watery stuff comes out(wee?)on and off 'poorly' sleepy/dopey and whingy.i took him to go today who said well it must be going somewhere and he looks fine.which is true but it cant be ok not to wee!

bump again - worried about this todauy!

Any decent GP will be worried if you are worried (married to one! he says mum being concerned is one of his biggest markers for doing something!)

This sounds seriously abnormal. He needs to be seen by someone who knows what they are talking about. it is not good not to pee!

if he cries.. are there any tears? if not.. then its a real emergency... children this age can get dehydrated soo quickly & this is a sign of severe dehydration...which can be very very serious.. & could require ryhydration via a drip in hospital..
also... Are hs lips dry & maybe cracked a little?.. to not wee for that long I would forget the Gp (as in my experience too.. they are useless with things like this) I would go to A&E..you dont need to worry that they will think you have gone there for somthng minor.. a child not weeing for that long in an emergency.. & NHS direct would agree..
your child could become extreemly ill very quickly.. & from what you say.. is showing SEVERE signs of dehydration already.. i DONT WANT TO SCARE YOU.. BUT IF UNTREATD..it could be very serious.. please take him to A&e asap... & DONT feel silly for doing so...

hello, thanks for messages.well yesterday he seemed a bit better in the morning,a little wee in his night nappy but still not drinking much.so i took him to the park for a bit,he went to play on the slide and fell asleep at the bottom!very cute but not like him at all especially as all his babygroup friends were there.he had 2 wees yesterday but still not alot of fluid intake.by the afternoon/early evening he was looking really poorly again and had gone wobbly again, this time falling back and banging his head.so i called nhs direct for advice, nurse was lovely, asked lots of questions then got our local out of hours doc to phone.she said to go to the out of hours clinic.got there and he was very drowsey-even the toys, goldfish and a baby couldnt keep him awake(normally he loves those things!).the out of hours doctor said he looked fine.not dehydrated etc which is great but im still not convinced.she said to measure how much fluid he is getting.but that was about it.she checked his ears, mouth, chest.said he didnt have a temperature.and told us to do all the things we'd been doing-syringing water, icelollies, cucumber, apple etc.
on the way home he fell asleep and we carried him straight to bed.from 11pm onwards he was up on and off coughing etc,2am ish he did exploding diarhoa.woke this morning with wet nappy-again not as wet as normal though.but today he has had 2 wees!!!so dont know if that means hes getting better?
he is crying tears and the doctor said although hes not weeing he can be losing it through sweat etc and that he doesnt know he must drink more in hotter weather.surely hed feel thirsty?and surely it wouldnt make him not drink?

its good that he is weeing a bit, keep an eye on it. i disagree with that doc - yes you lose water through sweat, but you need a certain amount to keep your kideneys working. but now two docs have said he doesn't look dehydrated which is good.

if you are worried then take him back to daytime GP today before the weekend - you should be able to get emergency appt. patients do this all the time and i never mind, your Gp should be used to it.

poor little fella. glad to see you back on here - i was a bit worried as we hadn't heard from you!
