I have noticed that I have started bleeding from my bottom. I have also lost over a stone in 3 months and my bowel habits are never the same twice. I could run to the loo and have very loose and another time hard ones (sorry TMI)
Im scarced, but know i need to go to doctor. Could it be IBS, or anything else?
Im shitting myself (pardon the pun)

Yes it could be IBS. But you need to go to the doctor ASAP. Bowel cancer is very, very curable if caught early. But a lot of people allow embarrassment to put them off seeing the doctor until the disease is far advanced. Please go and get checked out. I've had a close family member go through treatment for very advanced bowel cancer and it is not good at all. Caught early, it is much more straightforward to deal with.
I know you're scared, but you are going to be worrying anyway, so why not go and put your mind at rest - it may well be something quite harmless.

Im 31, had a gall bladder out a few years back so know im higher risk Do you think i would get away with just blood test? I know it shouldnt worry me, I mean I have had 3 kids FFS, but

Go to the GP - maybe something or nothing but I think bowel cancer is very treatable if caught early.

Could be IBS though and the hard ones have caused piles. Was the blood bright red or old brown blood?

cheesesarnie · 07/05/2008 22:39

what would you say to one of your children if they had this problem ?you know what youve got to do!

snowleopard · 07/05/2008 22:39

It could also be a food/allergy type thing. Everything that's ben suggested can be treated, so go to the gp. Honestly they will have seen things like this soooo many times and not bat an eyelid.

my mum had bowel cancer and because it was caught early her treatment was very successful. she has been clear for 2 years now and the doctors are very pleased with her health.
go to the doctor as soon as you can, it could be something not serious at all but if it is serious the longer you leave it the worse it gets.

lisad123 · 07/05/2008 22:40

Go to GP, Im sure your bottom is nothing they havent seen before. Surely its better to be sure, your just worrying yourself sick.

madamy · 07/05/2008 22:41

Please do go to your GP soon. Bowel cancer isn't common in younger people but that's not to say young people don't get it (I work in a chemo unit).
You know your symptoms are not normal, and there is something not right but it could be a number of other things including IBS, colitis, diverticulitis.
Also, easy for me to say, but don't be embarrassed - your GP really has seen it all before.
