Has anyone ever had a blood test taken from their foot?

I went for my bloods today at the walk in clinic at my GP’s but they couldn’t get any / find a vein as the skin on my arms and hands are pretty much covered bad skin.

They have booked me in tomorrow to get try and get them done with one of the more experienced ones, and said they might have to use my foot but will be painful. I’m not overly bothered but has anyone had a blood test from the foot?

My poor Dad when he was admitted to hospice. He had no veins. He was so very brave.

My friend does but she's has 1 arm and sometimes it won't show up decent veins.

I have awful veins apparently so I do the hot water bottle trick. I think it helps.

Just to say hydration and warmth don't work for everyone!! I have tricky veins and have had to have back of hand before which is quite painful. The best thing I find is finding a good phlebotomist and sticking with them tbh! I only go to one lady at my GPs now. She always finds the singular accessible vein I seem to have first time!

Yes! I have weedy veins.

I’ve now had nearly 30 blood tests taken from my foot, as skin on arms still bad and I’ve been having weekly blood tests. The two nurses at my GP surgery that can take bloods from feet have both got really good at it! There is a vein in my right foot that they like.

As long as it isn’t painful, it’s good they’ve been able to get it!

The odd one is a bit painful but most aren’t. They have got really good at getting it.

I think I have. It hurts a wee bit more than arm but not that much. If they can't find any veins they can use an ultrasound machine to locate them.
