Migraine with aura - can anyone explain what it's like please?

Hello,
So I've been having what I think are migraines with aura for a few year now, I suspect are related to hormones after 3 children & breastfeeding, they seem to be cyclical for about 2 weeks of the month. I have had several blood tests all clear, eye test all fine. Gp says they can't offer me anything apart from diagnosing chronic fatigue syndrome (I don't think it's that) or giving me antidepressants (🤔)

This is what I have (I get heart palpitations & hot flashes too)
Sore burning eyes
Headache (sometimes neck pain)
Ice pick headache
Floaters
Pain behind my eyes
Ringing ears
Dizzy disorientated feeling (the worst symptom)
Brain fog

Does anyone who has migraines think this is what it could be? And is there anything you take to help? Iburofen helps a little. Thanks for any advice ! X

Like @GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut and @bananafishbones1 I also get a migraine with no headache.

Mine starts with the weird kaleidoscopic vision (a bit like when you rub your eyes lots and get flashy zigzags floating about, but on a much bigger scale). But main thing for me is the tingling then numb-ness down the right hand side of my face and body. It starts with a tingling on my face and then spreads to my hands and sometimes the rest of my body. The first time I had one I got referred for a brain scan as the GP thought I might have had a stroke!

A couple of soluble aspirin at the earliest opportunity is usually enough to stave it off.

I think mine are brought on by stress and lack of sleep. Although some don't appear to have any obvious trigger.

Yes, but that is because I have drunk my body weight in liquid as I get an insatiable thirst but do not urinate. Once the migraine eases I have to run to the loo constantly.

Yes but for me it’s because I’ve recognised too late that I’ve probably not drank enough
so then I drink squash/cola too late and my system has ‘shut down’
this is why tablets aren’t effective when taken too late
your digestion and system basically stops
afterwards it kick starts leading to people needing to eat/drink/poo or all 3.
its so glamorous working out whether to order cheeseburgers or go to the loo again!
it’s also slightly reassuring as it’s a recovery sign that the migraine hasn’t killed you off (I’m not being sarcastic it feels like you’ll never get better in the throes of one!)

Has anyone ever thought of a deficiency causing the migraines? X

I posted my aura migraine experience above and want to add that I havent had an aura migraine for a few years, almost since i started on the Depo contraceptive injection. Not sure if it was just a coincidence or not, but my migraines have changed, they aren't aura ones and they aren't at random times anymore they are always in the early hours. I wake with my migraines now, between 2am-5am. Ill wake up with the pain and nausea and still violent vomiting. Im sure my migraines are hormone related as there doesnt really seem to be any other trigger that i can put my finger on. I did start taking a menopause vitamin (just a tesco one) and it seems to be helping.

I've only had the occular migraines.
Very scary as I thought something was wrong with my sight.
Only time I had it was in peri menopause when oestrogen levels were low.
I feel for anyone who gets these regularly.

Thank you everyone for replying, I think this is what I have. I also get it where the sides of my head and neck are so sore to touch, does anyone else have this?
