Ambulance service question

Does anyone know under what circumstances the ambulance service phone your GP the next day as they have concerns about someone’s health? It’s worrying me

The GP surgery

So they did ring you. What did they say?

OP, the crew won't have contacted the GP without your knowledge or consent. They would possibly have asked if they could send a 'GP summary' (like an email) to your surgery for them to follow you up.

Ok that helps thank you, maybe who told me was wrong & it was just an email. I did question it but maybe they’ve got it wrong, it is possible

We never get calls from ambulance staff unless they are with the patient.

We are notified by email after each call.

Ok thank you, that’s good to know. I am thinking they just got it wrong & it was an email

Thanks everyone I’m going to put it down to the person who told me getting it wrong. Thanks for all your help

That must have been so scary, is he ok now? It’s that the ambulance service have phoned GP not GP phoned me. I think I’m probably not going to work it out on a forum. I’ll have to ask doctors surgery.

But why are you bothered? Regardless if they called or sent an email, Your GP needs to know if you have had a medical emergency, especially if they are prescribing you drugs.

Because people react differently & as I was told a phone call equals more concern from the ambulance service than an email, it naturally concerns me more than an email would, as it would most people, seeing as I want to be ok.

Were you taken to hospital? It's normal for a crew to contact a gp if that's the more appropriate level of care 🙂

Yes. But I’ve just remembered years ago a note was put on the ambulance service system about me having fluctuating mental capacity. I totally forgot about it, it was never removed as far as I know, it’s not relevant now but they wouldn’t know, but it would maybe make sense why a phone call was made as my blood pressure was very high & they were concerned & I guess with what’s on there about my old capacity issues, they wouldn’t trust that I understood it all & would get help myself - guess this may explain it. They told GP about what happened at hospital too apparently. They probably had consent to do this kind of thing from years ago

It wasn’t just the blood pressure, there were other symptoms that caused the emergency response, so they were part of the concern too. But think it was maybe them just making sure GP knew so it didn’t rely on my understanding maybe?

That’s why I’m worried as they did phone my GP, I just wanted to know the circumstances of when they would/why they would as I didn’t expect it. I can contact my GP which is why I thought it odd & it worried me

Did they take you to hospital? My cousin is a paramedic and sometimes if they end up treating on scene for something that might need monitoring, they will phone the GP. I guess to make sure follow up is done if the patient forgets or whatever.

Yes I went to hospital. This I think is what confuses me, the ambulance service phoned my GP supposedly & not the hospital - would have thought it would be the other way round if anyone was going to. I do wonder if who told me is mistaken.
