Toddlers and bowel movements

My MIL told me last week my son had pooed twice when with her. She felt it was a lot so mentioned it. I wouldn't think anything of it if my son emptied his bowel twice in a day, unless it was clearly a sign of illness. Am I wrong? BTW He is 2.11months nearly.

DS goes early morning and about 5pm ish. Depends on if he's had a lot to eat or has had a pile of grapes/fresh orange juice

Your MIL is probably of the age where everybody was expected to have one a day regular as clockwork.

My dd's have never been 'regular' and to quote Christopher Green anywhere between five a day and once every five days can be considered normal (as long as the child isn't distressed by it)

Speaking as someone who has just seen 10 days worth come out of a 3-year-old at once, I would FAR rather have two a day than the alternative!!!

NotABanana · 07/05/2008 13:33

I am also surprised how big the poos are that my 2 and 4 year olds do!

Mine varies depending on what he has been eating etc - but then I have a fairly active digestion (will spare you all any further TMI) and as long as he seems happy and healthy, it's not worth worrying about.

i'm surprised and often rather proud at how enormous dd's poos are. it gladdens my parental heart, for some strange reason. [freak]

Nowhere does it say, in any parenting book or magazine that I have read, does it tell you how much time and interest there will be in poo once you have children!!

ah, NAB, on my BLW forum we have entire threads dedicated to green flecks of broccoli in nappies... not to mention the frightening 'it will look like your child has contracted worms' disclaimer on bananas.
