Hi! During a ct scan last year, something was flagged up in the chest. Oncology is adamant it’s a benign tissue. Have been getting scanned every 3 months, my choice, they wanted every 6 months. It’s grown 1cm all year.
The surgeon and my team haven’t been too concerned about it.
So I have agreed for this to be removed.
My last appointment with the surgeon was in June 2024, I agreed to get the operation.
Then straight after that I got a letter I was on the waiting list. All normal.
Fast forward to Xmas and I received a few letters to go for a ct scan in January, which I had two weeks ago.
Also I had a letter at that tune to go for my pre assessment appointment in February 13th
Also I got a letter at that time, to visit the surgeon tomorrow.
Why does he want to see me tomorrow? Is that normal. I just thought my next appointment would be my scan then pre op. Not seeing surgeon again.
Will he be just be giving me a date for the operation as it must be soon with getting my pre op appointment through.
Will he just be going over the operating? It’s a chest operation, but he’s going in through my side.
Sorry I have a total hospital fear, I’m waffling
thank you xx

It will be to go over the operation, give you a chance to ask any questions and sign the consent form. All totally normal x

What @SlaveToAGoldenRetriever said. Given you have a total hospital fear (me too) I would definitely take someone with you as you'll likely not hear half of it.

This happened to my mum. She had breast cancer and was scheduled for a mastectomy- in her pre-op she had a chest x-ray which flagged up something and she had to have a CT scan. We then got an appointment to see the surgeon for 4pm the day before her operation . We were terrified, sure he was going to say the cancer had spread. We spent an awful few days, went into the appointment and it was simply a 'Everything looks fine. You're first on my list tomorrow. Anything you want to ask? This is what will happen. ' It was nothing to do with the CT scan.
We practically danced out of the appointment we were so relieved.
