Kidney issues -duplex kidney? had tests now referred to nephrologist?

my gp noticed that everytime i have had a wee sample done it shows blood etc - even though it has come back not showing infection. She referred me for an ultrasound scan, that came back showing a possible kidney stone so was refered on for a ct scan.

the ct scan showed no kidney stone but showed “complete Duplex kidney” on one side. So then i was reffered for a bladder camera my bladder was fine. But my urine still had blood protein etc in - so the urologist is reffering me on to a nephrologist because it may be a sign if kidney disease.

thats all i know but im feeling a little worried does any one else have this?

My mum (78) found out about 2 years ago that she has this. It’s super-rare so they get very excited to see it but nothing to worry about, so she was told. They called it a duplicated collection system, which sounds less alarming than duplex kidney, in fairness. It’s congenital so I don’t know why they would jump to an alarming health condition…honestly try not to worry 🥰

Sorry, I re-read and realised it’s the protein in the urine rather than the extra ureter that is causing them to refer you on. Still try not to worry, hope you get an appointment soon xx

I'm mid 30s and have had blood in my urine samples since I was about 20. NHS did all of their investigating but couldn't find a cause to my knowledge, they never gave me a diagnosis anyway just said it must be normal for me. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I have annual bloods and urine tests to keep an eye on it.

I have this. I'm pushing 50 and found out about 3 years ago. I'd been given a working diagnosis of interstitial cystitis. Urologist was very excited to tell me about it after my CT scan! Apparently increased infections etc can be due to urine going back up and not draining directly into the bladder (dh named it "weeflux").

Now have annual bloods and urine tests to monitor but all seems to be ok.
