Dry eyelids

Over the last few weeks, my upper eyelids have been quite dry and a little sore. They're also looking really wrinkly as a result!

Can anyone suggest what would be best to put on them?

And what could be causing it?

I had quite bad angular cheilitis for about a month until recently. Not sure if they could be connected?

@dryyyyoureyesmate I use hydrocortisone on mine but I've had that 'ok' ed' by a GP as I get excema, it is also dry down the bridge of my nose. But it works for me.

The worst thing is moisturiser, it's too heavy for the skin there and makes me scratch and rub my eyes.

I did briefly think it was blepharitis and I used some wipes, but they left my eyelids red raw.

I also get angluar chellitis. I swapped to a non SLS toothpaste (some of the sensodyne ones) and also when it's bad, I use anti bacterial cream - fuicidin, on it, mixed with hydrocortisone.

My dermatology consultant told me that it's a myth that hydrocortisone thins the skin so I worry less about that now.

My eyes were dry, sore and a little flakey on the outer edge of upper lids and outer corners. A friend recommended Simple Soothing Eye Balm. Couple of days of that twice a day and completely back to normal.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot I posted!

It had died down a little, but has been really itchy today. Think I'll put some cucumber on them and get something from the pharmacy tomorrow.

Has this been a symptom of perimenopause for anyone? I'm experiencing a few things and wondering if it's that.

You might need a steroid to get rid of it, your GP may prescribe or you might need to see a dermatologist (privately, or you will be waiting till you are 105). I have eczema and need one occasionally .

after that you need a killer eye cream - Bobbi brown extra eye cream used to be great but they changed the formulas - still quite good but not what it was. A friend swears by peep club, cerave and clarins do dry eye creams, dr Haushka does a balm. I’m planning to try them all slowly.

It may well be menopause it does cause dry skin. Unless you’re using different make up? That can do it.

Thanks @theduchessofspork I'll check out some of those cream/balm suggestions and take it from there.

I'm not using different make up, other than one night a Christmas when I used a new eyeshadow. But I have been using eye drops for the last couple of months, just to try and brighten my eyes. I guess it could be that, but I've been using them a little while longer than I've had the itchy eyes.

I've had eczema before, but never on my face.
