High blood pressure - help!

I found out that I had v high BP just before Xmas. Been taking Ramipril since, plus changing diet, more exercise.

All was fine for a bit but for the last two days my BP has been constantly high - 170/90, despite increasing my Ramipril.

I have a GP appt this pm, but can anyone recommend anything they have tried to reduce BP?

I have checked out the NHS and BHF websites.

I'm so fucking worried about it, I don't know if my symptoms are due to anxiety making my BP worse.

I'm terrified I'm going to have a heart attack at any second.

Any help or advice would be so welcome.

Worrying will make it higher but then seeing it high makes you worry.
Drinking water, getting a good sleep, reduce stress, reduce caffeine and alcohol and loose weight can all help.

Reducing caffeine made a huge difference to DH's blood pressure. He has just one coffee a day with caffeine in it then just drinks decaffeinated tea and coffee the rest of the day. IMO decaffeinated drinks taste as good as the caffeinated stuff these days

Your diastolic (bottom number) is fine. Possibly some anxiety?

I had to take amlodipine and Ramipril

Thank you. GP has added amlodypine. I feel slightly more relaxed. Need to focus on losing weight.

Try taking a reading once you've had the cuff on for 20 mins. Take 3 readings. Ignore the first reading and average readings 2 and 3.

I'm in the same situation but my bottom number is higher.

What doses have they prescribed?
