Hi desperate for some insight!

I am 13 months postpartum still breast feeding occasionally. 2 weeks ago I woke up to itching from head to toe and it hasn’t improved. This was shortly followed by my first post partum period but it hasn’t gone away. I’m driving myself mad with worry about more serious things but I’ve had a blood test and an ultrasound to check the lymph nodes on my neck.

Can anyone help!l? Could it be hormone related?

Have you considered the basics like a change in washing powder/body wash?

Cookie1234567 · 21/01/2025 19:24

I really don’t think it’s that as it’s been two weeks now and I haven’t changed my washing powder

It may be hormonal, one of my most annoying menopause symptoms was the damn itch. I was constantly scratching and rubbing in anti itch cream but it took hrt to resolve it which isn't much use to you I know but hopefully it'll settle alongside your hormones which will be all over the place at the moment. I found an antihistamine helped and if I needed a second one I took it. Hope you feel better soon, its a long time since I was post partum and I remember the ups and downs of hormones finding their levels again.

Thank you so much. I’m just finding it so hard not to worry with my health anxiety. I am only 35 so don’t think it could even be peri menopause?

Could it be scabies?

EdithGrantham · 21/01/2025 19:49

I clicked on this because I've been having awful itching as well, especially at the top underside of my arms and on my boobs. I'm 6 months postpartum and fully breastfeeding so far so could be hormonal. To be honest though I get it to some extent every winter but it seems to be worse this year, I've just put it down to seasonal stuff and hoping it passes.

I suppose it could be scabies @NotMoreBadNews ? I don’t know much about it. I have no rash though. @EdithGrantham I’ve never had itching before, mine is head to toe! I thought it could be the cold weather too…. Not good for my health anxiety

I think given you've had no other symptoms and blood test was clear that's good news and sounds like it's nothing too sinister, I know how easy it is to spiral though. Hope the itching eases soon
