Burning face - please help!

So just before Christmas I had a bath, it must have been too hot for me and my cheeks went the reddest I've ever seen them and were so hot. Fast forward to now and my face is burning constantly. I get flushing too where the heat in my face becomes unbearable. A level of burning is constantly there. Is this something to do with me damaging my skin barrier or something else? Has anyone else had this before? Doctor's appointment on Friday. I'm getting so desperate. 😔

What skincare do you use, anything new?
Only asking because I recently found out that my glycolic toner, when used with my new vitamin C moisturiser, causes burning.

Hiya! I've basically stopped putting anything on my face now out of fear something is making it worse. It's just a constant burning regardless of whether anything is on my face or not 😔 Even my ear is currently burning too!

Have you tried taking antihistamine to see if it calms down? Sounds like rosacea or an allergic reaction to something. Get yourself a little personal fan from Amazon, they're fab for hot flushes. Use something very bland like CeraVe when you need to moisturise.

I used cerave ciclafete for a skin condition, it's a great barrier cream and might help

MaxMaxy · 21/01/2025 21:50

Sounds like roseca. Mine flares up in winter with central heating and hot showers

creamsnugjumper · 21/01/2025 21:52

Would anti histamines help?
Also it's not hot flushes is it??

Oh no. I actually can't cope with the constant burning 😔 it's affected my mental health massively over the last few weeks.

So does yours go away completely as the weather gets milder?

You need to be consistently taking it, the effect isn't as good if you take it sporadically

You can get cream to treat the rosacea. That helped mind and I haven't had a flare for a couple of years now. I had finacea cream which is azelic acid but there are many other treatments

Emmasian94 · 22/01/2025 13:56

@Musicaltheatremum did you just have the burning? My face is red (sometimes not even red) with burning and that's it? No spots etc...

Wild stab in the dark - do you happen to have any hyacinths in your home at the moment? I'm allergic to them and get a red, burning face if one is anywhere near.
