Need some help (and a handhold)

Hi all, I'm hoping for a little reassurance until I can see my GP to follow up next week. I recently had bloods taken to check my FSH level. However, the bloods have turned up some more concerning about my kidney function. My eGFR is reading 72 and a slightly raised potassium, meaning potentially stage 2 chronic Kidney Disease. Is their anyone on here who has knowledge of the calculations for eGFR? As according to the NICE guidelines the calculation used by the NHS should be the CDK-epi (2009) but it looks like mine were calculated with the MDRD one. When I checked this with an online calculator my level showed as 81, still not great but 10% better! I'm a white female, aged 46 with a creatinine level of 76.

I could really not do with this all right now as also have an appointment at the breast clinic tomorrow regarding a small dent under my breast. It feel like I'm either going to be diagnosed with breast cancer or ckd or knowing my luck, both 😪

Has your gp commented on your results? I can only see results when they have been looked at. One of my liver values is high but have been for a while and comment is "typical for the patient".

All my blood results seem to be labelled as 'abnormal but expected' by the GP and 'speak with gp to discuss' even when they are within range? I do know that my FSH level which she was most concerned about is very high (early menopause expected).

Hi @RGMK1979, I am a recurrent UTI sufferer (late 30s), and my egFR has been as low as 68, and as high as 90. It's usually in the 70s or 80s. It can be caused by dehydration. Doctors don't worry unless it falls below 60, so try not to worry! I recently had mine tested again, and it had gone back up to 90 after being at 68.

Thank you. I've been terrible for drinking water (which I have rectified greatly since seeing these results). I'm also on a health kick to lose the 3 stone I need to rid of as my cholesterol was high too! Going to be an interesting GP consultation? Do we tackle being a hormonal mess, kidneys or cholesterol? 🙄

Mine's usually mid to low 70s and my GP has never commented on it.
I know with SystemOne (a lot but not all surgeries use this) if one result is abnormal through a ridiculous quirk all results of tests requested at the same time are flagged as abnormal, even those that actually show as being with normal range. Maybe that's what happened here.

Hope your breast clinic appointment goes well Flowers
