Thanks

I haven't and didn't know such a thing existed.

But I really need to be , so I'll be watching with interest.

Don't feel bad about it schneebly, think of it as taking steps to doing something about it

WigWamBam · 06/05/2008 11:00

Didn't do much for me, Scneebs.

It was basically a dietician who told me to eat less and move more, and when I asked for more help than that she gave me a diet sheet which allowed me less than 800 calories a day.

I hope yours is more helpful though; this was a good few years back.

Thanks for the replies

Tigerfeet - I should think of it that way and hopefully I will when it sinks in.

wwb - that is what I am afraid of! I really hope it has moved on since then.

I should have stuck with you big MoFos!

hana - yes and I knew my BMI put me in the morbidly obese category but it just feels worse now that it has been confirmed iykwim? Sorry if I am rambling. Don't know much about lighter life and no idea what to expect from the clinic.

I think you have to suck it and see, Schneebs. You have to give it a go - it could be marvellous.

Don't let us grumpy old MoFos put you off

Kewcumber · 06/05/2008 11:13

hi scheebly - come back and chat on BigMoFo's - I'm starting again this week. Its helps to have likeminded people to talk to even if you're not actively losing.

WWB - thats shit advice - surely no-one in this day and age really thinks that cutting someone morbidly obese to 800 cals a day is a long term solution

schneebly · 06/05/2008 11:14

Here's hoping WWB

Maybe I will even come back and tell you grumpy old MoFos all about it

Hi Kewcumber - I might just do that. I am sure it helped last time but when I fell off the wagon instead of posting for support I disappeared inside myself again. I am my own worst enemy.

How is that beautiful son of yours?

I would also agree with WWB - try it and see. My borther went to one and I think he had good advice good counselling and was offered surgery (he is at the "morbidly" end of morbidly obese!).

He is a fuckwit so managed to "fool" them into thinking that the counselling had worked when he just ignored it all. Silly boy. I did point out that the only person who lost out was him.

Go and see what they have to say - you never know.

WigWamBam · 06/05/2008 11:16

Well, it's what she told me, KC. Oddly enough, I didn't go back again ... can't think why

I haven't been anywhere near the MoFos thread for way too long ... must start again too, am completely hopeless!

Kewcumber · 06/05/2008 11:19

ah we've all buggered off when we feel bad Schneebly - including me. Come back and chat - I'd really be interested in what they say to you. All hints and tips welcome.

I'd be grateful of anyone who gives me some support wihtout treating me like a dozy 4 yr old.

DS is just divine despite the standard 2 yr old arm out and "'way' 'way" when I try to snuggle up to his loveliness!

WigWamBam · 06/05/2008 11:22

Schneebs, I've been buggered off from the MoFos threads for about three months ... come and have a chat, I'm going to pop in and get my arse kicked say hello.

schneebly · 06/05/2008 11:26

It will be a while before I actually get to go as I have to have the blood tests first - not sure why the doc didn't just take blood today! I have have to go back and see the phlebotomist on the 15th for the tests then wait 10 days for results then whne doc views those he then will refer me. All a bit of a faff really!

Agree about want non-patronizing support. I am fat NOT stupid!

Bless your little DS - 2 is a lovely age but they sure know what they want His stubborn streak will do him good later in life!

Non patronising support is really hard to find in RL isn't it.

We know we overeat. We know what we should be doing. What we need is help to adjust our mindset so that we can do what we know we should be doing. Being told "eat less move more" by a 9st dietician who can't see what your problem is doesn't help at all

Perhaps you will be offered counselling or CBT on top of dieticians etc.

My GP (now left the practise sadly) was really good when I started ranting about my inability to lose weight. She offered me counselling - which I rejected as it hadn't helped before with other issues - and a gym "prescription" which should have been really good but wasn't. I was supposed to have 20 sessions at our local council run gym but could only have specific appointments and was constantly under supervision. My sessions kept getting cancelled and as I wasn't allowed to go on my own I just stopped going.
