Sensitivity after filling - normal?

I've had my first ever filling today, just a small one. But it feels like something is slightly touching a nerve, just a tiny bit, but enough to get uncomfortable. Does anyone know if this is normal/will settle? Thanks

I had a small filling last month so small I didn’t even need a local anaesthetic bit for a week after I had sensitivity and mild pain. Then it went away. I think sensitivity is normal after a filling. I read pain sensitivity should only last a day or two but mine went on for a week everyone is different I guess: my teeth are particularly sensitive.

I had a filling last month and my dentist said it could remain sensitive for up to 2 months, which was far longer than I’d been expecting. It has settled down now, though.

Yes- last dentist told me it will take a couple of months to settle down. 6months it's mostly sorted itself out but get the occasional twinge from cold things

Yes that's normal, give it a few weeks to settle. Obviously if pain gets worse or you get a swelling then call them to get it checked.

Thank you, that's very reassuring!
