Anyone else around 35 and want to commiserate I'm the noticeable signs of aging you're experiencing..

For me it's crows feet beginning to form round my eyes, grey hairs poking through and feeling tired (probably doesn't help I have a 5 year old and 1 year old)

Anyone else?

I'm 54 and this post made me laugh! Sorry OP, it's a gradual change from here on.
On the plus side I'm much happier in my 50's 😁

I'm 54 this year and also laughing! If only I was 35 again, I had no idea...

Yes I’m 35 this year and started to really notice a decline in my skin in the last year! I also have very young kids (who don’t sleep particularly well) so agree that hasn’t helped!
I’ve started using retinol in the last few weeks and have already noticed a difference, and going to start looking into some collagen supplements I think!

Grapesandcheseseplease · 18/01/2025 20:47

I’m 42 and the last few years have been all downhill. No white hair but my face has changed from “heart shape” to blob, my body has changed so I carry all of my weight on my stomach and my crows feet and frown lines are bad. My health has declined rapidly too, I’ve developed conditions that mean I’m often in hospital and I’ve had to half my working hours because I’m not physically able to do more. My health issues mean I don’t worry about the physical ones, no one cares about my wrinkles, they care if I’m present and with them so that’s what I focus on.

Shangrilalalaaa · 18/01/2025 21:02

36 here and I get what you mean! I have very dark hair, never dyed it, and there’s a big patch of grey coming through at one side of my head. Also my skin can look very questionable after poor sleep, which is common as I’m pregnant and have two pre-schoolers. I have been putting myself last since the children, so made an effort to research skincare and bought myself some lovely products over Black Friday. I do think it’s making me look a bit fresher! Or at least, it feels nice to pop all the potions on. After this last baby is born, I’m going to treat myself and do something new with my hair, plus get my teeth whitened, and start using retinol.

Saying all of that, I agree with posters saying that ageing is a privilege!

A friend took a photo of me laughing yesterday, I didn’t realise until she sent it to me. It’s probably one of my favourite ever photos of myself.
Wrinkles are on full view, yes, but I look so happy. Happier than I’d ever have expected when I was in my 30s & living in a shitty relationship. And that’s the important bit.

Awe this is lovely!
I defo prefer photos of me now than when younger, I've found my look and look happier

Bit annoying that this thread has been piled on by people double our age saying just you wait…. 😆

Well some of us are noticing the early signs so we’re allowed to feel a bit meh about it.

Does it help that some of us are a lot happier now we’re older?

34 just turned and noticed my first forehead wrinkles recently, and the crows feet are coming in too.

I choose to see them as a sign I've spent my life laughing and raising my eyebrows incredulously at people. I refuse to buy into the idea that I should be ashamed of my slowly decaying carcass, everyone else's are doing it too so fuck it. Bring it on, I want to be as craggy as Gordon Ramsay's corrugated forehead and telling vulgar stories to embarrass my young relatives one day.

"Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you'll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….You're not as fat as you
imagine."

I have always loved these words!

So lovely that you are now happy - sounds like you deserve it!

Oceansblue · 19/01/2025 10:52

It's true about the teeth, as another poster mentioned upthread.
I'd definitely take tooth health more seriously if I was back in my mid 30s.
Back in my 30s I just did a standard brush twice a day and only had a few fillings, so I was quite smug that my teeth were fine and I didn't need to do much more, but it wasn't enough, nor did I brush for long enough. I didn't floss at all, or see a hygienist. The damage can accumulate. After a lot of dental problems and many appointments in the dentists chair, I have finally learned my lesson. Wish I'd learned it earlier.

Disturbia81 · 19/01/2025 11:09

@serendipity70 It's funny how we're all different, I hate that quote 😆 talking about fading looks and youth being beautiful, just feeds into negative stereotypes.

HornyHornersPinkyWinky · 19/01/2025 11:10

OP I'm 40 and started to see skin changed when I was your age - I now use prescription tretinoin and SPF everyday and have definitely see an improvement.

Also, I know loads of people are saying 'be grateful you are getting older' - well yes I'm happy to be alive and healthy, but it's perfectly possible to feel that way, and still notice when your face starts to change, and want to do something about it.

It can be a bit disconcerting to see changes in our face, especially as most of us don't really change that much from our early 20's to late 30's - so you get used to how you look. I just want to maintain what I have for as long as I can.

We’re saying enjoy your age just where you are as you will look back and feel cross with yourself that you didn’t.

I'm about to turn 36 and I haven't seen any signs of aging this past year, small or otherwise. However, I haven't had children and I barely leave the house as I work from home 🤣 so I think it's more the fact I haven't had years of sleep deprivation and not being as exposed to UV rays 😆
