I used to use Salbutomol spray for asthma but haven't needed it for years. Well last night I got asthma all of a sudden so I dug out my spray and took it. Then I looked at the use by date and it was April 2007 - so have I done damage to myself or will I be OK?
I usually go through my first aid box and get rid of stuff that has gone over the date - even paracetamol tablets.

Don't worry, it just alters the effectiveness. Pop to the GP tomorrow and get another one.

Phew, I did hope it would be that! I'll have to go and get a new one just in case.

The major risk is that it will be less effective.

TBH drug companies have to guarantee a certain shelf life. The actual shelf life will actually be longer so that they can meet the guarantee without fail.

Get a new one in for next time.
