High B12

I've just had my blood test results back and my b12 is very high 2119 , I've been having b12 infections for about 10 years at the doctors because they have always been low.
I had a blood test because I've just been feeling off, I thought maybe to do with my age ( I'm 44 ) . I have a follow up telephone appointment on Wednesday to discuss my results.
Has anyone else had high b12 results and what was the reason?

Natural elevated b12 can be due to loads of things- yours is surely due to the injections? How long since the last injection?

if on injections B12 should not be tested as it will be artificially elevated, I would told this by my GP years ago

I was on injections for 15 years until a new young GP decided to test the levels and of course they were high, so they stopped my jabs

I now do them myself I buy from Germany

How often are you getting B12 injections?

Your circulating B12 will be high due to the B12 injections, which is why they generally don't keep testing it once you've started those. Obviously you'll discuss this during your telephone consult, but I wouldn't worry in the meantime.

I have pernicious anemia and get monthly B12 injections. They never test my levels.

Where do they come up with this stuff?? It goes against every guideline for treating B12 deficiency. Were you ever diagnosed with PA?

I was told initially that I could not absorb B12 and would need injections for life. I tried tablets for months but it kept getting lower and GP said that I had the lowest level she had ever seen at that time and put me on injections for life, until the new doc stopped them, I had to go 8 months without and felt like I was dying so decided to treat myself as was getting nowhere with doctors, they just told me to take tablets, which made me dizzy and I cannot absorb them🙄

@DecayingRelic I see a doctor that specializes in autoimmune diseases and when I asked if I could simply take a high dose daily B12 supplement he gave an unequivocal "No!".

If it's a cost thing it's a fairly silly way to try to cut back. A vial of B12 is dirt cheap and most patients could be taught to self inject at home. Makes no sense.

I should add the reason I have b12 injections is that I had a gastric sleeve about 12 years ago so can not absorb b12 through my diet
