Spotty nose...any ideas?

ds2 who is 7 next week normally has beautiful skin but about a week ago he developed loads of spots right down the middle of his nose and on the tops of his nostrils. They are small raised blistery things that merge together in a bright red rash. It doesn't itch, he is well otherwise and doesn't seem bothered. I rubbed with a flannel and a couple bled a bit. I've put on savlon and sudocream. No joy, if anything they're getting worse.
I'll take him to the gps's next week ... but in the meantime anyone got any ideas what it is?
TIA x

it could be anything. is there any hand foot and mouth disease doing the rounds in your area? Any other synptoms, like a sore throat? or off his food? best see your gp.

Happened to my dd2 a few months ago - turns out it was a form of impetigo and Fucidin H (antibiotic cream) cleared it right up.

Thanks a lot Barbapapa..I had a feeling it was something like impetigo. Can you get Fucidin over the counter do you know?

sounds like impetigo to me.

fuciden cream should fix it, but I would get him checked to be sure incase it is a form of excema starting...you don;t want to put the wrong thing on that!

Likely to be impetigo.

The first time I saw it I thought it was excema on dd and put her excema cream on it.

When I did take her to the nurse she said that was the wrong thing to have done as it was impetigo.
