Breast discharge and fullness - not pregnant

In my 40’s, not pregnant (took a test just to rule it out though chances would have been tiny anyway)
over the last week I’ve been aware that breasts have been super sensitive and felt “full” like when I was breastfeeding (finished this over 6 years ago). My nipples are super sensitive and even wearing clothing is making them feel irritated. I noticed tonight that gently squeezing both breasts results in clear yellow liquid coming out like colostrum. What could cause this when I’m not pregnant? Will obviously be making a gp appt but as it won’t be for a couple of weeks I imagine I’m just keen for any thoughts on here as on my own and worried ☹️

gosh could be I guess?
it’s not milky it’s clear yellow and reminds me completely of colostrum which is so odd

If you google it says the discharge may be yellow or greenish as well. I'd get myself to the doctor if I were you, though it doesn't sound life-threatening, thank goodness!

OP, can you get to the Dr any sooner?
This happened to me and I had DCIS - cancer stage 0.
its nots a ‘go tomorrow’ thing but it is a ‘do this week’ thing.

Thank you for sharing this, I’ll call the Gp tomorrow and see how soon they can see me. Lying in bed feeling so Sore every time I turn over on them, it’s bizarre how “full” they feel like breastfeeding😣

I was 41 when it happened to me, so couldnt self-refer into the breast cancer clinic - you have to be over 55 I think.

So the GP had to refer me, and didn’t put me on the two-week wait as it’s not a typical bc symptom. Only 4% of breast cancers present with an infection and leaking, so I guess it’s unusual.

Does your GP do phone appointments? You don’t need to be seen in person for the GP to refer, you just need a chat.

Good luck x

and antibiotics- you need those too x

You should definitely go to GP to get it checked out, but yellow discharge that isn't spontaneous (i.e. only happens when you squeeze) is coming from both breasts, and multiple ducts is usually normal (i.e. normal physiological function of the breast).
Obviously nipple discharge should always be assessed as it can be a red flag, but I wouldn't worry, OP.

I had suspicious nipple discharge & went to private breast clinic as I was freaking out & couldn't cope with waiting.
Mine was spontaneous & only from one duct on one breast.
I was diagnosed with duct ectasia, which is not cancer.
Best of luck OP

Thank you so much. I’ve called Gp and they’ve arranged a phone consultation for Wednesday (which is fast for my area) and have said they may need to see me in person late on in the week.
the liquid only comes out when I squeeze but my breasts are so full it’s like they want to be emptied but I’m scared to squeeze it in case I create more! It’s literally like I have a new born again but I don’t, it’s odd.

Brilliant 🤩
Better to get it sorted especially as it’s sore. X

Could it be high prolactin? I have high prolactin and have milky discharge ever since I stopped breastfeeding 4yr ago. I am now taking Cabergoline and it’s completely stopped!
