Anyone following her?
Watched her programme and it was really interesting seeing the results.
I wasn't sure where to post this as it's not strictly just a weightloss programme. It seems to help other health issues.

I watched it and was really interested
we have decided to give it a try- DH is type 2 diabetic so can only be good for him
the tips seemed really easy to follow as well

Jabtastic · 09/01/2025 13:04

Yes I found it a very interesting programme and will definitely watch more.

TheOliveFinch · 09/01/2025 13:25

I’ve been reading a lot of other stuff about the impact of high sugar diets on so many aspects of our health and have cut as much sugar as possible from my diet , I thought the programme was really good and such striking results over a short time, including the person with really severe acne

Lobsterteapot · 09/01/2025 13:36

I’m type two diabetic and a lot of the tips are the same as I’ve had from the diabetes nurse so I think they are based on sound science.

I liked the format and the focus on health. It is a stark contrast to similar “heath” programmes from years ago like “ you are what you eat” and “supersize to super skinny” isn’t it?

SwankyPants · 09/01/2025 13:38

It made such a difference to her skin didn't it.
Im type2 diabetic and have been on ozempic so have lost weight and got my hba1c down but, to my shame, haven't changed my eating habits.
It's inspired me to follow her tips and change what and how I'm eating 😁

I think the host comes across really well too, she seems very warm and watchable.

TheOliveFinch · 09/01/2025 13:46

The Metabolic Mind channel and website is also very interesting on the impact of high sugar diets and the suggestion that it is responsible for so many negative impacts on health including developing dementia and some mental health disorders although they do talk about using ketogenic diets a lot. I cut out sugar a couple of months ago and it was quite tough for the first week or so but have felt much better since then

Ooh I've wondered if that book was good - sensible principle

TheCheeseIsCallingMe · 09/01/2025 13:59

I read her book and found it very interesting. It changed the way we eat at home and Dp went from pre diabetic to not at risk just from the changes we made.

I watched the programme - I liked it but it would have been good to see a longer follow up I thought.

As an aside, that poor lady and her skin - I felt so sad when she said she didn't want to get engaged until her skin was better :(

SwankyPants · 11/01/2025 09:32

Im going to order the book. I'm going to get a blood sugar monitor too, be interesting to see my blood sugars properly. Finger prick tests are great

Has anyone started applying the 'hacks' to their diet? I'm tempted, just to curb my ridiculous sugar cravings as I am getting quite desperate now! But I'm sure I will find it difficult to actually remember to apply them. Does the book give a diet plan, does anyone know?

I looked at the Lingo blood sugar analyser and I'm tempted to do a 2 week trial (it is £59 though!) because I'd like to see where my spikes and dips are coming from. I am definitely 'on the rollercoaster' some days and I don't think it's as simple as pasta/bread/sugar for me. Other things must be triggering it I think. I have always believed that oats (despite apparently being better at preventing spikes) and dairy cause spikes in blood sugar for me.

TheOliveFinch · 17/01/2025 18:20

I’ve adopted a couple of the hacks so far , having a vegetable starter before meals usually salad veg and only eating sweet stuff after meals this is only fruit as I’ve already cut out other sweet stuff. Luckily my sugar cravings went quite quickly when I gave it up but the first couple of weeks were tough. If you sign up on her website for free you get emails with various things like her hacks or some recipes

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/01/2025 18:28

Thanks @TheOliveFinch that's helpful

Jabtastic · 17/01/2025 18:44

I'm trying to focus on the protein breakfast and it definitely makes a big difference. Also eating the veggies in the meal first.

qwertasdfg · 20/01/2025 22:59

Just applying the hacks will help with blood sugar spikes but not sugar cravings unless you stop eating them. As OliveFinch said, cutting out the sweet stuff is the way to go. Sugary stuff is a mental dependance not a chemical addiction.
