Hi I was diagnosed with bursitis in my hips , the left side is ok now but my right side can be so painful , I enjoy walking but afterwards I pay the price with stiffness .

I have neglected my health as I’ve been looking after elderly parents , & ridiculously have been suffering . I am going the Dr to request a referral for an accurate diagnosis .
Haa anyone been diagnosed with bursitis ?

I’ve got bursitis in the balls of my feet. It’s definitely worse when I’ve been walking / standing a lot.

When I first got a diagnosis (5 years ago) I had steroid injections which were miraculous but short lived - I got about 5 or 6 weeks pain free.

Now I manage it with decent shoes and avoiding activities that make it worse.

Has your GP suggested steroid injections at all?

Thankyou for your reply the physio did mention injections but said that it might not work

I had bursitis in my hip joint, around the ball joint of my femur, it was incredibly debilitating, I couldn't walk far, or stand for long, tried physio, specific exercises and then my doctor gave me a cortisone injection after feeling for the most painful point. It worked a treat and 12 years on I have no pain there, touch wood.

I got a diagnosis of this in my left hip in November. I was out walking one day and suddenly got a pain in my hip. It just kept getting worse, so I went to the minor injuries unit the following morning, who diagnosed bursitis. Told to rest and take pain killers.

It's still no better now so I think I'm going to go through my work private healthcare to try to get help as NHS just keeps telling me to leave it a few more weeks...

Oh I also think I gave a bursitis in my left shoulder. I have had rota cuff pain since early October, again started out of the blue. Physio told me it was a rota cuff injury and gave me some exercises to do (without even seeing me). Since I got the hip diagnosis I've looked into symptoms of shoulder bursitis and it matches perfectly.

So I'm posting on here in the hopes I can get done advice too!

I had bursitis in both hips a few years ago.
As I could barely walk I had steroid & lidocaine injections every 12 weeks from my GP. One hip eased off about 9 months before the other. I then had NHS physio which helped and haven't had an injection since.
I do have bursitis now in my feet and waiting for treatment - almost a year now.
The injection really was almost instant relief.

I had it in my knee a few years back.
Strong ibuprofen sorted it eventually

i had this a few years ago and an American friend recommended Essentrics. It sorted her bad back (she’s in her 40s and back to ballroom dancing) and it sorted my bursitis and also my tennis elbow. A little, often is the way out of pain. https://www.essentricstv.com/browse

I had bursitis in both ankles one after the other when I was in Y12. It was treated with strong NSAIDs (Naproxen and something else) and rest. I was told no weight-bearing, so was on crutches, but before the left ankle healed, the right ankle also developed bursitis. I was off school for a month. Went back on crutches and doing a minimal timetable. It really messed up my summer term.

There was concern why I had developed it in both ankles, and IIRC I was quite young to have bursitis, so I had blood tests for a variety of inflammatory conditions. Nothing was found. It flared up several times in my early 20s, only ever in my ankles, but I would recognise the symptoms and immediately started the NSAIDS, so it never got as bad again. No high heels for me, nor ballet flats, either. Fated to wear sensible shoes.

Not been bothered by it since. Also never learned to walk in heels.
