Cracked mouth

The corners of my mouth have been cracked and dry for nearly four weeks now.

I was given Daktarin by the pharmacist on Monday, and have been taking a vitamin B supplement since then. I've been taking my L-lysine tablets for a bit longer.

But it's just not shifting. I've had it lots of times before, but not this long. I think I was given something for it one time last year, but I'm not sure what.

Any suggestions? I'm worried about scarring and it feels like every time I open my mouth to eat, I'm setting it right back.

I suffered with this for years. Turns out I need extra B vitamins in particular B12. I take a B-complex supplement and it hugely helps. On occasion I've run out and not replaced it and the cracks appear again within weeks! So definitely give that a try.

@LifeInAHamsterWheel apologies, that is what I've been taking. A high strength, slow release vitamin B complex, with vitamin C.

Just seeing zero difference so far.

Oh wait, not B12 though.

I constantly had this but now have b12 injections every 12 weeks it does come back after about 9 weeks but not as bad

I had a persistent crack on my lip for weeks and the dr I eventually saw told me to use nipple cream! Pure lanolin type. Worked within days and hasn’t come back. That’s without the medical history of anaemia though. Might help….

I went to the pharmacist and was given a very mild cortisone (steroid) cream- cleared it up overnight and actually never suffered so badly from it again.

Oh god… I had this for six months about 29 years ago. Was awful. I second all the vit B comments, but for now use hydrocortisone cream for a couple of days and it will be fine. I know you’re not supposed to use it in your face, but I doubt I have suffered any long-term effects!
