Grim nappies in 9mo DS - sign of food intolerance/allergy?

Warning - don't read this if you're eating!

For the past three or four days, my DS's dirty nappies have been really awful. Instead of normal little 'logs' he is producing horrid mucus-y loose poos that absolutely stink. We took him to the GP, who said it was probably related to his cold.

The cold has now cleared up, but the mucus-y nappies remain. Sometimes it's two or three a day. Is it worth taking him back to the GP? Might it indicate a reaction to something he's eaten? I thought perhaps onion, garlic or tomato might be responsible, but he's had all those things before and no such reaction.

Or is this just normal?

Both my ds's have this atm and they are both getting over a nasty virus.

He might just have a bit of a virus? DD had the most awful nappies for a while - soaked through her nappy, vest, babygro and sleeping bag one night and smelt so bad I actually gagged!

Is your ds eating, drinking as normal or is he a bit off colour?

Dd slept a lot when she had hers - seemed to need it. I just made sure she was getting plenty of fluids.

I would go back to your GP if he doesn't improve soon - maybe they can test his poo?

Hope you get back to the normal little logs soon.

Virus is likely - I had a nasty cold at the beginning of last week. He's eating and drinking just fine, seems OK in himself, but ohhhh the hideous nappies!

I'll take him back to the GP if they continue - thanks
