RSI help

i have had RSI for quite some time now had the tests etc have it in both wrists when the specialist told me that is why i have been in agony with my wrists he gave me a steroid injection but told me eventually i would need an op.
since then my GP has given me a few injections not many last one in July but over Christmas i have been in agony with my wrist right one so when GP opened I went to see him and he said yes it was a while since the last one but instead of doing an injection he said do some exercises and put ice on it.
i was crying when i came out as I am in so much pain and due to having to rely on my other hand the wrist is playing up now. I was given by GP a slip of paper with the following words which i have obviously googled;
DUCNARSTYLOID PAIN
DE QUERVAINS TENOSYNOVITIS
i cant sleep for the pain cant shower properly brush my hair or any personal care. i have to go to GP again in 3 wks if it is not better he will consider an injection.
I did ask him about the op but he was not very happy but I know my friend had same thing she said op which was just a day case had changed her life.
i am so miserable in so much pain. my partner said maybe what i have is different from my friend so cannot have it operated on but thats not what the specialist said. i think it is the same its just different names
first GP said it was from me knitting then sewing then using a laptop then from years ago when i was a cleaner washing floors it feels like i have no life at all everything i do is supposed to be at fault but i have to live
at the moment i am in agony the exercises make it worse done the ice packs but after that hurts so much too
i just wondered if anyone can suggest any help please?

I can offer sympathy as I have had around 7 operations on my tendons - some redoing earlier operations. I have also had around 6 thumb injections by my GP.

I was referred to occupational therapy and they gave me a variety of braces to wear at night and ones to wear during the day when doing certain things. Also gave advice such as buying pre cut veg etc.

I also have the physio exercises to do and ice and heat pads.

I need another injection but the last one made it worse by damaging the vein so I am dreading going back as fear the GP will want to send me back to a consultant and the last surgeon did not want to touch fingers where I had had previous surgery because they said there was a lot of scar tissue.

In the meantime I struggle to hold a book or do much at all. Going out to eat is embarrassing as I can't cut up the food ...

So it sucks so no answers but lots of sympathy !

I read by having a kindle on my phone as then it is just a finger swipe to turn the page. Another thing I find good is audio books.

OP I am so sorry I know how painful this is. I first developed tenosynavitis 30 years ago after an intense period of repetitive work. It was so bad I couldn't use my hands, couldn't lift a mug, use a knife, prepare meals etc.

I tried all sorts. I had splints provided by physio and had painkillers. Not much helped. I went to a chiropractor and that made it much worse.

The only thing that helped was complete rest. It was about two years before it was nearly back to normal but it's always lurking in the background if I do anything repetetive for too long.

The number one thing I have learned is that I get no warning. If I do anything repetetive I do it in short bursts. If, for example, I am crocheting or painting I must stop before it hurts because once it hurts it's too late.
