Dip in heart rate

So to start, I suffer with really bad health anxiety. Only a month or so ago I had all my bloods checked, stool sample and an ecg (only a short one) because of my extreme PMS symptoms (extreme fatigue, bloat, panic, nausea, dissociation etc) and everything came back normal... I haven't worn my Apple Watch for the last month and had been feeling so much better and less anxious however I want to track my steps so put it back on yesterday. I am on my period and also fighting a bug - but feeling completely exhausted, the most extreme tiredness I've had. I've had coke and a coffee and don't usually have caffeine to try and keep me awake. My resting heart rate is 70 today which is higher for me however I've noticed two sips of 47/50 when I would have been resting...?! Is this something you would be worried about? Not sure whether to hassle the doctor... my heart rate is going up and down as normal.

It's fine.

Your Apple Watch is just fuelling your anxiety. So I'd take it off again. You've had a normal ECG.

Definitely get rid of the watch. My heart rate on average is at 85 but I'll have dips to 49 and spikes to 120. Got an overactive thyroid so heartbeat goes all over the shop. Honestly you sound completely fine. Get help for the anxiety, that will be better for you

It's fine, mine often does that

If you suffer from health anxiety maybe turn off the heart rate feature and use the other things on it, that feature is just one part of Apple Watch, there is other good stuff on it you can still use without it

MusicalDoc · 03/01/2025 06:38

Totally normal

You turn the HR monitor off on the watch app on your phone, it's in the privacy section, you can still track your steps then

HowMuchOfYourHeart · 03/01/2025 06:43

Get rid of the Apple Watch. Honestly these devices cause more anxiety than they solve, and I speak as a cardiac patient who wondered what the hell was going on when the high heart rate alarm went off on my watch. It’s like a bloody train on my wrist and I can’t work out how to turn the bloody thing off..

If you have health anxiety, then truth is that you’re going to see potential issues with anything that happens, and so it’s best to remove any kind of monitor which can have you fixated.
