Do I need to speak to my GP - blood in bm

Hello and Happy New Year to everyone.

About four weeks ago I noticed a lot of bright red blood in the toilet after a bowel movement. There was also some blood on the outside of the bm produced (Sorry, not sure how else to put it!). It's not happened at all since (I have checked every time!) About 3 months ago I had a QFIT test done for a different reason and that came back as clear. Im 53, I have had piles before and I expect it's this.

It is playing on my mine though, I think I should probably speak to my GP. Just looking for some advice really. Thank you for reading.

Honestly? With a history of piles and it having not happened again I wouldn’t bother. Especially as you also had a recent QFit test.
Should it happen again, by all means yes. But for now, no.

The only true reassurance you will get will be from your GP. With so much in the media lately surrounding bowel disease I dont think you will settle until you've spoken to a professional.

Good luck I'm sure all is fine x

If you're worried, then no one's going to judge you for "wasting GP's time" with this. However, if it was just once, if it was bright red blood, and if you have a history of piles, I think it's overwhelming likely to be that.

Always have it checked out properly at the doctors, even with a history of piles.

It's not worth the risk.

Plenty of benign things it can be but absolutely needs to be checked.

Thank you to everyone who has replied. @fourelementary I agree, I think it will almost certainly be piles, but I think that @TTCNO2AT44 is right in saying that I wont settle until I know for sure.@DeffoNeedANameChange thank you, I was worried about wasting my GPs time. @Leafy3 thank you, very good advice, I'm going to contact my GP tomorrow.
