Wide feet trainers

Hello..

So not sure if anyone can help me..

But I'm a shoe size 8/9, wide foot, flat footed woman 😮‍💨

It's something I've always been so embarrassed to talk about.. as I struggle with footwear..

Since having children I feel like my feet have got bigger.

I'm looking for good supportive footwear that won't make my feet look masssssive as some trainers etc out there are super bulky!!!
Fingers crossed someone will be able to help.. 🙈

Mens trainers generally have a wider toe box, so worth looking at that as an option, not all are bulky, also depends what you need them for. Cushioned running trainers are supportive and come in so many styles.

Brooks do wide fitting trainers (D fit) but unfortunately only in limited colours/designs. If you try sportshoes.com and limit to wide fitting, you’ll find more.
If you’re going to buy Brooks, buy from their website as you can exchange even if worn outside for up to 90 days.

JauntyRedShoes · 31/12/2024 23:58

I’ve got wide feet and a bunion. I have a pair of Brooks and New Balance, both have wide fit options and are supportive.

Nike React (Miler) are wide and really comfortable. I've got two pairs and rarely go out in anything else these days. I went to a specialist wide feet shoe shop and the assistant said I don't technically have wide feet (they deal with it as a medical problem so frequently see wider feet than mine) but even so, I know mine are wider than a lot of shoes are designed for. The Nike Reacts have made a big difference to me.

If you’re looking for them as just shoes, not running, FitFlop are worth looking at. I’ve got wide feet plus bunions and they are very comfy.

also Sole Bliss, but they’re very pricy.

Sketchers
I had to go into the shop though rather than look through the website

CarterBeatsTheDevil · 01/01/2025 02:40

I highly recommend Sole Bliss, though they are expensive. Worth looking at eBay or vinted if you're an easy size. You could also try Topo trainers which have good support and a wide toebox.

IDoLikeToBeByTheSea · 01/01/2025 02:49

I’m the same size as you OP and with wide feet, I wear Skechers Unos.

LarkinAboot · 01/01/2025 02:51

I tend to go with barefoot shoes or men's tbh

LarkinAboot · 01/01/2025 02:52

Lord if people's feet are bigger after kids

Saschka · 01/01/2025 02:54

Try Altras, they are incredibly wide (I’m an H fitting, and they fit me)

Ygfrhj · 01/01/2025 02:54

Birkenstocks in summer, they also do winter shoes although not tried them. I wear Nike Air Max that I can fit orthotic insoles in. And Brooks or New Balance running shoes. Chunky loafers with a half length orthotic for work.

I also feel self conscious about my feet looking enormous especially because I'm short. But I feel like wearing bulky shoes makes it seem like a more intentional look?!

Freeasabird76 · 01/01/2025 03:12

I found fitville about 18 months ago when suffering from planter fasciitis, always had very wide feet but much wider after 2 Dc.

sparklesandsparkles · 01/01/2025 10:32

Thank you everyone - what an amazing response!!

I just feel that so many of those mentioned look bulky and will make my massive feet stand out even more 😮‍💨

Will definitely have a look at every suggestion though. Thank you everyone!

Birkenstock Bend trainers. So comfortable and have the birkenstock footbed, so a nice wide toe box. There's a sale coming on Friday too.

OohRains · 01/01/2025 11:13

HOKA Clifton 9's do a wide fit

Reginald123 · 01/01/2025 17:42

I find Remonte and Reikers very good as some of their trainers are quite smart looking.

Ollybob · 01/01/2025 17:48

Fitville, keen and possibly hobibear too.
If you look at the shape of your foot and then the shape of most shoes available there is a noticeable difference, why must we squash our toes into this strange shape, that's not how our feet should be.
One note though if you do consistently wear wide fitting shoes then chances are your feet may spread a bit more so going back to a classic shoe shape may be even worse but on the plus side you will be comfy!

Haggisfish3 · 01/01/2025 17:49

Inov8 roclite and claw series are brilliant for a hobbit foot like mine!

Onthetubetoday · 01/01/2025 19:19

Saucony also do wide fitting trainers. I have a pair for running (Guide 17) and correcting overpronation but they are pretty bulky. They lace up like a dream however.

I’m a size 8 so wear a size 9 trainer. My Brooks Adrenaline GTS D width trainers don’t look like a size 9 and look quite neat.

itsalwaysthesame · 01/01/2025 21:48

Heavenly feet are good but I'm thinking I'm going to have to try getting handmade shoes / trainers at this rate.

My feet have definitely got bigger since having kids. I was a size 7, now even wife fit 8's are uncomfortable, I'm only 5ft 4 too so look like coco the clown in most shoes.

If you find any please share and good luck!

3dogsnoholiday · 01/01/2025 21:52

I have very wide feet and size8/9 and wear mens new balance trainers which have always suited me.

I wear adidas superstar for casual wear (men's) and I find them flattering for my large wide feet.

Nothing much else fits me (including sole bliss). Hope this helps!
