Anxiety Nausea

Hi,

I lost my dad six weeks ago. For the weeks up to the funeral I felt sort of ok, very sad, a bit out of sorts physically, chest pains, ibs flare up, not sleeping but getting things sorted and keeping busy. Dad had been poorly for a long time so there was relief.

We had to wait nearly four weeks for the funeral and since the day before it I have felt nauseous, chest pains have been off the scale to the point gp sent me to hospital to have my heart checked, panic attacks, not feeling like eating or sitting down to eat and not being able to swallow the food.

My chest seems to have settled, my appetite seems to be returning but most days I'm still getting the awful nausea. It's like morning sickness. The panic attacks are improving too.

I just want to know if this nausea is normal. GP can give me anti sickness and anti anxiety tablets but says they may make my ibs worse.

It's hard enough grieving without feeling physically unwell too

Thank you in advance

Sorry about your dad OP Flowers your body does all sorts of weird things while it’s having an anxiety attack and is in fight or flight mode. I get nauseous from anxiety, but if you’re on medication now it will eventually subside once your serotonin increases and cortisol goes down

@Squeezetheday

Thanks for your speedy reply, very much appreciated.

I'm not actually on the meds as GP thinks they will make my IBS worse so it's like I have to just ride it out,

I have IBS and regularly take anti-sickness meds. They don't affect my tummy at all. Get some Immodium and take a couple before the funeral if you are worried you will need to go to the toilet. It wont do you any harm.

@Hoglet70

Thank you for your advice, really helpful.

We've already had the funeral - sorry if I wasn't clear

Sorry! When I read again, it was clear. I am terrible for speed reading and missing bits out.
