Sticky Stools and Supplements

Hi everyone,

I’ve been dealing with a weird issue and could use some advice. My stools are really sticky, leaving skid marks all around the toilet bowl (even below the waterline). It takes about 20 minutes of bleach to clean it up properly.

Here’s a bit about me:

Diet & Lifestyle: I have a healthy diet, eat my 5-a-day, get plenty of fiber, and exercise regularly.

Supplements I Take Daily:

  • Vitamin K2 MK-7 (500mcg)
  • Multivitamin with Minerals & Iron (contains D3, C, B12, B6, B5, B3, B2, B1, folic acid, A, E, iron)
  • Magnesium Citrate (100mg)
  • Red Korean Ginseng Capsules 20:1 (14,000mg)
  • Vitamin D3 (20,000 IU)

I’m wondering if one of these supplements could be causing the issue. I know Vitamin D3 and iron can affect digestion, but I’ve been taking them for a while, and the stickiness problem has been more noticeable recently.

I’m already drinking plenty of water and keeping my fiber intake steady. Does anyone have experience with this or tips on what to tweak? Should I cut back on one of these supplements, or could this be related to something else entirely?

Any advice is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I saw a nutritionist on Insta who said Magnesium Citrate can cause this.

Magnesium citrate has a laxative effect!
Iron can too, but it's possibly not that much in a multivit.

Why are you taking the magnesium?

Ditch the citrate, glycinate is better.

you’re taking 20,000iu of vitamin d a day?! Why?! That is a mammoth amount, your multi will also include 400iu.

Consider Lactose intolerance.
