Shoulder injury after punch

My DH was working today and got assaulted. His should in v uncomfortable straight after and it’s finding it hard to get comfortable. He’s also got pins and needles. Nothing is broken but wondering if he’s done his rotator cuff again. Is it worth calling 111 but wonder if they’d help? The NHS site says wait 2 weeks to see GP

I'd wait 2 weeks and see a gp then

I'd be inclined to see if his work offer any sort of health care etc. You could try some anti inflammatories and see if it persists but in my work we would be expected to get a check up on it

If it's a workplace assault i would get it seen as "evidence" .

Sadly his work doesn’t have anything. It’s public sector. Last time he had naprox which I think he might need again. We will get him physio or something when they all open back up

I'm sorry to hear he was assaulted OP, especially on Christmas Day. Everyone deserves to be safe at work.

The pins and needles would be a worry for me - I know when my DH dislocated his shoulder they were mostly concerned about the pins and needles as it can show lack of circulation. I would definitely call 111 for advice.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 25/12/2024 19:52

Probably needs an x-ray to make sure he hasn't broken or dislocated his collarbone, especially with the pins and needles.

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 25/12/2024 19:53

Also agreeing with previous poster. Pins and needles is the worry. My DD11 is currently in the middle of rehabbing two very nasty shoulder dislocations. She can put them back in herself if needed, but everyone we spoke to from A&E to specialists & physios said any pins and needles needs to be seen immediately as it can be a sign of trapped nerves which isn't fixable. I definitely wouldn't wait two weeks.

The other test they did was got DD to close her eyes whilst they traced a piece of tissue down both sides of her whole arm (the nerve runs up one side and down the other) to check she could feel it. it may be worth you trying similar.

I would go get it checked out, better to over than under react when something might cause you longer term issues. Sorry that happened to him.

DesBucks · 25/12/2024 20:40

We have called 111. They are going to get a nurse or paramedic to call us back. He is pretty sure it didn’t dislocate he had got punched to the chest and arm and had pain about 5 mins after. We are pretty sure it’s not dislocated but do think it’s deffo muscle injury. Just trying to get something to manage his pain! X

BellissimoGecko · 25/12/2024 21:15

Does the NHS site say to wait two weeks after an assault/injury to seek medical advice?

purplecorkheart · 26/12/2024 21:25

Hope your op is OK today.
