Subserosal Fibroid cancerous?

Hello lovely people,

I am hoping for some advice. I’m 34 years old, I have a 3 year old and been trying for a second child. We’ve done 2 months of strict SMEP and no luck. I’ve also been experiencing some pressure on my lower abdomen, pain on the right side of my back which sometimes goes down my right leg. I’ve had an MRI where they found a 5 cm subserosal fibroid. I’ve had a transvaginal ultrasound where the lady doing it said the fibroid is big and will push the egg away so you can’t get pregnant. I’ve seen a gynae consultant who thinks the fibroid shouldn’t cause infertility (he was more concerned that I was getting the NHS to pay for fertility treatments). My main concerns at that point was this pain which is preventing me from doing any exercise. The gynae referred me for contrast MRI which is worrying me because does he think it’s cancer.

With trying to conceive, I’ve read everywhere that subserosal fibroids don’t affect fertility but could it? I feel like when we are “trying” all the sperm flows back down, in my head the fibroid is blocking the passage. I am very lost and confused, I don’t know what to do. Should I just travel to another country and get this fibroid removed?

When we went through fertility treatment I had a tiny fibroid and they took it out. The consultant said they absolutely can affect fertility.
I got pregnant naturally after it was removed.

Thank you Slowhorses1, I knew that surgery was the right way forward but the consultant I saw say you most likely have scarred tissue from C-section which is causing infertility (this was purely based on assumptions because he hadn’t looked at the ultrasound or anything). He also said, surgery would further reduce your fertility because you will have more scarred tissue.

I would try and get a second opinion if you can.

Are there any particular consultants that people would recommend?

Hi, so I was booked for the contrast MRI but by the time I got an appointment I was pregnant. The fibroid didn’t impact my pregnancy, it did grow to 8.9 cm. I gave birth last week and can now feel the fibroid as a solid mass in my abdomen, I will have to schedule an appointment with the GP
