Should I go to A&E with this stomach pain?

I have a paraumbilical hernia.

At 1pm I started getting severely bloated and waves of colicky severe pain. I guessed it was my hernia being partially strangulated which happens from time to time (and I am on an urgent list for repair). As usual waited it out for a while (it usually sorts it's self out after 10/20 minutes) but since 1pm I've had 2 cases of diarrhea and still having terrible colicky waves of pain where I am bent over.

However I feel okay unless the pain hits. I feel like a fraud going to A&E as the pain is not constant. Also now doubting it's hernia as it wouldn't have lasted this long (?)
I had a takeaway pizza last night so that complicated things in case it's food poisoning(?)

I should add that when the pain hits I definitely think I should go but when it subsides I think perhaps it'll go away and I shouldn't go.

Thoughts? If this isn't hernia what could it be?

My DH seems to think I should get a taxi and go but I'm unsure. I get anxious in hospitals and I certainly don't want to waste their time especially when they're so stretched.

Thanks.

Can you call 111 if you are unsure?

You should go to A&E, no hesitation. You have a known issue that could easily escalate to a life-threatening condition. It is not a waste of anybody's time or resources to exclude strangulation. Definitely go and get checked asap.

Of my teens had a kidney abscess, which was caught early and responded well to IV antibiotics. When dc was discharged from hospital the paediatrician told me to have a very low threshold for taking them to the GP, or even bypassing the GP and coming straight to A&E: basically to get my dc seen for any fever, any UTI symptoms, any general malaise, even the sort of thing I would normally treat at home. Which I did. And every time, the HCPs reinforced that I was right to get my dc checked, because their history of an abcess made them more likely to develop it again. Fortunately that never happened, and only once was the dc ill enough to need prescribed meds.
