Constantly thirsty but not diabetic

I'm not diabetic and I don't have Sjogrens but I feel like every part of me has dried out. My mouth, eyes, skin etc. does anyone have any ideas of causes or can offer any remedies to counter this please? I drink a LOT of water (probably too much), no caffeine, take a multivitamin every day plus B complex supplements. I'm losing the will to live.

I get this with air-conditioning. Is yours set too high maybe, or a dehumidifier running.

How much are you drinking and peeing out?

There is diabetes insipidus which is totally different from diabetes mellitus and is nothing to do with glucose

Try adding an electrolyte tablet to your water once a day. You can buy them in tubes from the supermarket (in the vitamin aisle). Usually 1 soluble tablet to a pint of water.

Failing that, go and see your doctor for further investigations.

yes I'm like this too! I was actually wondering if its a peri menopausal related symptom. I have days when my thirst is worse than others and no matter how much I drink I cannot quench it. I'm also constantly tired now matter how much sleep I've had.

BellissimoGecko · 18/12/2024 15:35

How old are you, OP? It's a common perimenopause symptom.

Godfreydahling · 18/12/2024 15:36

How do you know you don't have Sjogrens? It doesn't always show up in blood tests.

I notice I get very thirsty in frosty weather. Don't know what that's about. It might be when the weather is cold the heating is on more.

I also feel the need to drink more water if I've been eating more sugar than usual.
I feel more dehydrated during perimenopause because of night sweats.
I do find that taking oil of any sort helps. I often take evening primrose oil or a teaspoon of coconut oil. If I miss it for few days I get itchy ears and very gritty dry eyes in the morning.

Are you on any medication? I had the same issue and it was my medication

I had drunk 2.5 litres by 3pm and I've only been to the toilet twice today, I haven't needed to go and only went because I thought I should given how much I've drunk.

I'm in my 40s so I wonder if it is menopause.

How do I get some relief from it?

I had this. Turned out to be an underactive thyroid.
