Horribly aching hips- struggling!

So on and off for around 10 years my hips have had a stiff, achey feel to them. Seems to come on mostly when it’s in the colder weather, and when I haven’t moved as much as I should, or when I’m asleep. Usually heat and stretching helps.

But for the past 2 weeks they’re so stiff and achey I can’t walk far as they start to hurt. I’m struggling to keep up with others and nothings taking the aches away. GP isn’t interested, wants me to go on waiting list for physio. I usually walk 3-5 miles per day but just walking up the stairs is leaving my hips aching.

I’m 33, ideal BMI, not peri menopausal.

Do you sit a lot at work/in general?
Google hip mobility exercises, it’s made a huge difference to me. I do them a few times a week and my pain now only flares up if I miss them. The waiting lists for physio are pretty long so starting something before you get seen could make all the difference.

@HerSisterWasAWitch im not working at the minute, i home educate my disabled daughter while I wait for her EHCP to come through, so I’m always doing something or out somewhere. I will have a look at the exercises, thank you!

I have one bad hip and I've realised it's related to me sleeping on that side. I've switched to my back (so hard!) and it's much better.

So if you're a side sleeper it's worth a go.

Does sounds like you've had issues for quite some time. Worth seeing a physio or getting referral from your gp.

Inflammation possibly?
Give up sugar and alcohol for a while and see if that makes any difference.

I had similar issue, went to physio and after a scan and seeing the orthopaedics at the hospital turns out I have osteoarthritis in one hip! Diagnosed at 28. I'm just unlucky apparently, no other reason given for it! I need a hip replacement within 10 years.
Definitely keep persisting with the gp.

At the very least, start taking vitamin D. My one hip was really playing me up (I walk alot with my dogs) and that has made a huge difference.

I had this for a few years and it resolved completely once I started hrt.
