  1. Not sure but guess it's a good idea. They will soon tell you if they don't want them.
  1. Plasters, bandage, antiseptic cream, safety pins, eye cup and eye wash of some sort; scissors.

If I think of anything else, I will post again.

I flush mine down the loo. don't know if it is the best thing to do though.

superflybaby · 01/05/2008 12:16

I took out of date medicines to my local pharmacy and they looked really put out and said they would take them but it wasn't essential, despite what it said on the bottle, I could dispose of them at home in future.

Pavlovthecat · 01/05/2008 12:21
  1. Yes
  2. Plasters, antiseptic cream/wipes/lotion, antihistamines, arnica, paracetamol, calpol, thermometer, eye drops, bandages/wrist and ankle support, tape, that stuff to draw puss out...whats it called...?erm? Cant remember, tweezers (for spinters).
avenanap · 01/05/2008 12:22

You're supposto take them to the pharmacy, the glass bottles break in landfill and the antibiotics etc can run into the watercourse.

First aid kit:
Steristrips are good but not vital.
Dressings of all shapes and sizes
Plasters
Gauze
Tape
Scissors
Gloves
Thermometer
safety pins for any bandages
Bandages
Blister plasters (are a god send!)
Antiseptic wipes (good for grazes but sting. I'm not sure if it's still recommended to use these though)
Melonin dressing

Medication
Paracetamol (childrens and adults)
Ibuprofen (childrens and adults)
Cough syrup
Thread worm pills (depending on age of children)
Anti histamine
Diarolite.

Should add that o.o.d medicine includes (unused) needles, voltarol and co0dydramol.

Definitely to pharmacy then. They can dispose of needles safely in their sharps bin.

fiodyl · 01/05/2008 12:30

Yes you are meant to return out of date medicines to the pharmacy or some doctors surgerys also dispose of them.
If they are not out of date but you no longer require them some places run a scheme where they are sent to developping countries.
i think for nedles9 unused or not u will ned to use a sharps bin to dispose of them. Contact your local council to arrange fooneto be delvered/colected.
