Gallbladder removal via private

Finally had an appointment today for my arsehole gallbladder (full of gravel) at Ramsay health - the only private provider in Cornwall. Been referred via NHS after the GP surgery screwed up my referral 3 TIMES since June. The NHS asked them repeatedly for blood tests & ultrasound results & they did nothing about it till November. By which time the NHS (in September!) had rejected the referral 🤦🏼‍♀️.

I had a phone call & private appointment scheduled the very next day after the GP surgery rang me to say I needed tests...that had already been done & I realised what had happened.

So anyway, now that shitshow is sorted, consultant today said the wait for the surgery with them is 6 to 8 months (it's nearer 3 years on the NHS in Cornwall) & I do need it out.

I honestly thought it would be sooner? Is that because there are no other options down here?

I had mine out a couple of years ago privately. The wait would have been around 4 weeks after all the diagnostics were done, I think, but I was not in a terrible state and opted to wait a bit longer in order to have a convenient time. Our private hospital was even then stuffed with NHS overspill and is worse now. Even paying privately the wait for any sort of appointment is at least 3 weeks unless it is clinically urgent. And that is if you accept the first one they have, regardless of whether it is in any way convenient.

I hadmone removed on the NHS buy at a private hospital. Honestly, I could have picked a date myself within 2 weeks of my consultation.

Your wait is unusually long for private.

If you have a very bad attack you should go to A&E. I did, was admitted and had it removed. I did have gallstone pancreatitis though.

I went to A and E eight times. I was sat in a chair for hours at a time, patted on the head and sent away...

I've just had my gallbladder removed private via nhs, seems to be quite common to get through the backlog, I waited 4 months from first consultation to surgery, I had to go for a second consultation so mine took a bit longer but overall i didn't think was too bad, can't complain I'm wasn't paying and it was like hotel service on the day, own room and plenty of staff to help frequently, you are still under nhs so the waiting time will still be on that path but a reasonable nhs waiting time instead of waiting a year otherwise. The consultants always over estimate the time, it's likely you will get surgery sooner than 6-8 months.

That's bad,I was in so much pain. Worst pain I've ever felt. I'm so glad they did tests and admitted me.
