Food poisoning/stomach bug. Who to look after baby?

Myself and my husband have come down with food poisoning/stomach bug this morning. Both have had D and V since the early hours. Our 12 week old baby was staying at grandparents last night and they’ve said they’re happy to have him tonight too. Would he be ok to come back tomorrow? What do other people do in situations like this? We’re pretty sure it’s food poisoning as we both got it at the same time and haven’t really been anywhere to catch a bug!

You are lucky to have the GP to help. Otherwise people just get on with it.

We have two kids and no help so we just have to deal with it best we can. Taking it in turns to 'parent' depending on who isn't puking/shitting at that moment in time. At 12 weeks honestly that's as good an age as any for this kind of thing as they are immobile and still sleep a lot. When they get to be toddlers it's hell.

We are so lucky to have grandparents! I’m more worried about him catching it than us being ill.

Take them up on the offer and rest and look after yourselves.

Still remember the bug that hit when husband was away and I had two toddlers to deal with. I remember lying on the lounge floor while they pottered round me....

D&V can be very nasty at that age. Trying to at least get you past the peak of infectivity seems prudent.

We've managed to do turn taking when it's happened to us. As for baby catching it, if they are breastfed there's stuff in that which helps protect them from parents bugs but I'm not sure what the risks are otherwise. In any case I'd be practicing as good hand hygiene as possible around the baby.

Baby is formula fed so at least he’s still getting fed as normal at grandparents. Both still got D, chills, aches and stomach cramps but no vomiting since this morning. Hoping this means it’s on its way out!
