Worried about punch biopsy (skin lesion)

I'm making myself so ill with worry.

I've got a punch biopsy for a skin lesion scheduled. (It was originally thought to be a non-classis seborrheic keratosis) but as it's been itching and had grown by 1mm they want to biopsy it.

As it's on my neck, the hospital have said the local anaesthetic may effect my swallow so I need to make sure I've eaten well beforehand. I can't drive for 12-24 hours.

They have made it clear to me that if it is a Seb K after all, they will not remove it due to where it is situated (neither will any dermatologist as of yet).

It does get inflamed due to clothing and it just hits the edge of my seat belt perfectly!

Here are my worries:
Will it hurt?
Will I make things worse by having a core part of it removed?
Will the scar be really noticeable?
Will I be able to move my neck?
How long for the result?

I've been getting neck/shoulder pain too (may not be related as I'm Perimenopausal).

So frightened.

Kindly OP, these are questions to ask the doctor who's going to do the biopsy.

@JustLaura I had a punch biopsy for exactly the same thing, albeit on my back.

The local stung a bit as it went in but apart from that it was entirely painless. It was a bit zingy when the local.wore off and I think I had three stitches but nothing that two paracetamol didn't deal with. And I was back at my desk working within half an hour. I had to keep it dry for about a week and the stitches dissolved.

I could drive afterwards but guess as it's on your neck saying not to is entirely precautionary.

There were no issues and my dh says there's nothing to see.

The Dr told me when it was booked that it was a precaution.

The biopsy indicated it was benign. No further issues. That was three years ago.

The results took a bit of chasing.

@RosesAndHellebores

Thank you. It's reassuring to hear it from someone who has been through it.
