Need diet advice! 42 year old waking up exhausted

I am mum to a toddler, so sometimes I accept I will wake up exhausted but I sleep around 6-7 hours a night but just always wake up exhausted.

Has anyone got any top diet tips to stop me feeling so exhausted. I will admit I hardly exercise at the moment and haven't been drinking much water.

Also, any supplement advice would be greatly appreciated. I had booods done last month and all was OK.

6-7 hours probably isn’t enough sleep. Most people need more.
Cutting down on sugar might help too.

address diet and exercise first
and i reckon you’ll start to feel enormously better

emailnonse · 11/12/2024 07:31

what’s alcohol intake like?

emailnonse · 11/12/2024 07:33

have you made the plunge re work?

greengreyblue · 11/12/2024 07:35

I need 8 hrs and my kids are adults. I try to be. In bed by 10pm and up at 6.45.
i rarely eat crappy food and have reduced alcohol to a few at the weekend. I walk daily with the dog and do a few strength exercises at home. I take Vit D3 . I’m 53 and have lots of energy.

@emailnonse yes! Think exercise is severely lacking! I used to be so fit! Now it's wake, nursery drop, work and back again. (And no to work question but thanks for asking) x

@greengreyblue sounds great advice thank you. Having grown up with dogs all my life, j know they are a great motivation. On other threads am contemplating doing dog walking , which would help me get out and about! (Probably severely lacking motivation too)

At your age, it was anaemia and vit d deficiency for me, so I take both daily ever since. Go to bed well before 12 - pre 12.00am sleep is more replenishing and get at least 7 hours. Eat your veg, reduce sugar, no alcohol in the week. You will feel better. Only take iron if blood tests shows it is needed.

Re getting a bit of exercise, I wfh and recently joined a dog walking site and walk a local dog at lunchtime twice a week. Having that commitment booked in my work diary makes me step away from my desk, and get some fresh air/vit D and clear my head, rather than just looking at my phone. Plus she's great fun, always pleased to see me and full of beans! We've both made walking pals as we do the loop at the local big park at lunchtime :)
