Is there a way of making 'dissolvable' stitches actually dissolve?

I had a c section over 9 weeks ago and a couple of the sticthes didn't dissolve. GP looked at them 2 weeks ago and said she couldn't remove them because it would damage the tissue but she would cut them as close to the skin as possible (She wanted to leave them but I insisted as they were driving me mad). THere are still a couple of little 'tails' sticking out, showing no signs of dissolving and are driving me potty as they are itchy and stick out (only slightly but enough for me to notice iyswim). Is there any way of making them dissolve?

I don't think there is. Last time dd had stitches the nurse said they won't dissolve properly until the skin grows over, so the ends do need to be very short.

dd had one pulled which hadn't dissolved after several weeks and it was the tiniest thing - waited half an hour in clinic when I could have done it myself!

I had this, slap some germoline on it (stuff with the local anaestheic) if it gets really annoying. eventually mine did grow over/out (not really sure what) took a few weeks though
