Open sores on scalp

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone has experienced the following…. Since April of this year I have had open sores on the right side of my scalp, they ooze, are itchy and sore and flakey. I have been to my GP several times and been told it’s not a skin condition I.e eczema or psoriasis etc, I even asked if it could be impetigo but the go told me it is down to stress. I have been going through a lot lately and recently put on sertraline for low mood and anxiety.

I have used everything the gp has prescribed.. nizarol shampoos and treatments, capasal shampoos, steroid treatments and and ointments and creams. I am stuck in a cycle of it completely drying up and almost healed to it cracking or going back to square one.

many advice would be appreciated.
tia

I am just about to phone for a GP appointment as I am suffering with exactly the same thing.

Never had any problem with my scalp before this year - but I have been through several months of extreme and unusual stress resulting in disruption to sleep, diet, exercise routine, etc.

I’ve tried keeping the problem under control, but it seems to have spread to my earlobe and possibly my eyelid. It’s disappointing to hear that your GP has had no specifically helpful advice or treatment.

Have you had blood tests?

Use a steroid like betacap to clear it up then use poly tar shampoo all the time to keep it at bay. This worked for me. Any normal shampoo or hair products will encourage it to come back.

Also you might find it just disappears for no apparent reason.

Oh and don't scratch and pick no matter how satisfying it is!

That looks exactly like seborrheic eczema to me (I have it). It can be very hard to treat hence it keep coming back.

I think you need a derm referral to confirm. GPs are not great with skin conditions ime. I would ask for a referral on the basis that the GP doesn't know what it is and nothing they've prescribed is working.
