What's covid like these days?

I am (or was!) well out of the covid loop but spent an hour or so with a woman who was just recovering from a nasty virus- that she was at pains to insist wasn't covid- a couple of days ago. I've woken up with slight vertigo today which was exactly what happened the last time I had covid but that was 18 months ago now. Is it still a sign of it? Is there a working test these days?

Is long covid not affecting women longer-term these days? If people who are anti testing stay at home when sick that is fine, just please don't pressurise people who have covid to get to work because it's "like a cold". Anyone elderly, pregnant or immune suppressed doesn't want it.

Yep long Covid is most common in Women aged around 40-50. Combination of hormones (lack of oestrogen) and the fact at this age we are often juggling jobs, kids, the home and so push through when tired.

I did this. 4 months on and I have had to reduce my hours at work, I can’t exercise and can do about 50% of what I could do. Previously very active - running 25 miles a week.

My Covid infection initially was pretty mild but I pushed through. My advice would be to test and if it is Covid just be cautious. It can be more of a vascular/inflammatory illness that can really mess lots of systems in your body up.
