Herniated discs in back

A few months ago, I pulled my lower back. I could barely move. Sitting was very painful. Standing was very painful. It eased slightly with Diazepam and Naproxen. Then I pulled it again. More Diazepam and Naproxen helped.

I saw a physio who wanted me to have a scan before having more appointments. I had an MRI scan privately since the wait for the NHS was long. The MRI showed 3 herniated discs - one in a worse condition to the other two with some nerve involvement, but not to the point where an operation there and then was needed. It also showed some age-related changes and an incidental finding of a small cyst which doesn’t require any treatment. Following this, I have had some steroid injections and physio.

This morning my back went in to spasm again.

How long is recovery likely to be until I see some real improvement?

Sorry you have had no replies but that's probably as there is no answer as it's so variable.

I have two herniated discs and others with nerve involvement and I find that taking baclofen (like your diazepam) at the first sign of a twinge heads off complete spasm.

A heat pad is the other thing I find that gives a bit of relief.

Hope you are soon feeling a bit better.

I feared that would be the case. Thank you for replying.
