B12 injections

I have a diagnosed B12 deficiency which only responds to hydroxocobalamamin injections. These were previously injected by the practice nurse at my GP surgery with no charge attached but when I recently saw a locum GP she said I now need a prescription which I pick up at the pharmacy and take to the practice nurse to inject which obviously now incurs a prescription charge. Does anyone else buy multiple doses privately from elsewhere in Europe eg Germany as it seems I can't buy it this way privately in UK despite it costing about a fifth of the prescription charge.

It’s never been an issue at my practice, I just rock up every ten weeks and the PN administers it. I would never buy drugs from abroad, you can never be sure what’s in them.

The NHS and NICE guidelines are rubbish for those suffering a B12 deficiency.

I took the packet to my GP and was told it’s the same stuff the NHS use.

Well if they issue a box of 5 (which is what hydroxocobalamin come in) it’ll be less than £2 per dose and last you more than a year…
